I researched the types of wiring kits available for the 2016 Jeep Patriot and found that the type that tie into the rear tail light gave folks problems. One of which was for some reason the trailer light system would stop working. I could not find many reviews for the Chrysler wiring that I purchased from Just For Jeeps but what I did find were positive. The install diagrams were not perfect but gave me the direction I needed to get the wiring from the rear of the vehicle to the engine compartment. Just use good judgement and do not get the wiring near hot or moving parts as you snake the harness to the front. Hardest part of the diagram for me was getting the correct prospective. The banana shaped bag containing the relays can be stowed in the left side opening in the trunk area. On the 2016 Patriot, the place the diagram shows to stow it is filled with foam. So just over a few inches on the side you can slip the bag in the lower left side of the trunk area plastic covering and it will be well protected there. The wiring ties into the electrical system neabr the battery and also to the pos and negative terminals. The plastic cover that houses the electrical connections has to be removed. Then look for the brown connector in the mix and disconnect it. It is near the middle of the half dozen connectors. The new wiring harness has the same brown connectors that get reconnected to it as per the diagram. Don't forget to put the fuse back in the line. I took it out during running the cable to the front to make things easier. Trailer lighting has worked properly,
