Had to replace rear brakes and rotors on a 2007 WK Grand Cherokee. Novice experience, watched youtube tutorials and read up on jeep forums, took me 2 hrs.I saved a couple dollars by not buying the kit they sell that included the parking brake. I purchased the brakes and rotors separately. I never use my parking brake.....so it was not in need of changing. So overall the job was straightforward and easy. Some notes:-Pop the lid of your brake fluid to release pressure in brake line. -One side of the brake pad is side specific. They have a R or L to indicate what side of vehicle they go on. I was doing my driver side first, the one pad wouldn't line up, turns out I had the R pad, switched to the L pad and it fit perfectly.-The other side of the brake pad is identical for either the driver side or passenger side. This is the pad that has a claw like bracket on the back.-No brake grease was included with brakes........I mean come on you can't throw in a couple of those little packets of brake grease? I get the Jeep on jacks stands, rear wheels are off, I'm into the job.....and no brake grease.......wife's car is parked in behind me cause I'm a idiot like that. So I call my buddy who owes me a favor, hit up auto store grab me a some brake grease, just tell the clerk your changing your brakes, they push brake grease like oxycotins at those auto stores. Anyhew he pulls up I go grab it he take off cause hes busy, and that mofo got bearing grease!!! COme on....and its like a small crisco tub of it size.....Luckily i had one small packet of brake grease in my garage and I spread it out over both sides. I would have liked to apply more but glad I had some. So moral of the story is justforjeeps should throw in a little grease.-After completion but before driving, pump you brake pedal until resistance is normal.Easy job to do yourself, easier if you have proper tools/jack/ jack stands.
